Thanks for this amazing list, and the link to The Publishing Spot. Last year I had Tony D'Souza stop by and discuss how he completed his book. It actually made him angry to think about how some MFA programs "fleece" young writers.
As a guy who graduated from journalism school, I still have to agree with you--fight for fellowships, scholarships, or work study programs, it's the only way to go.
Anyway, great site, I look forward to reading more.
sounds like Mr. D'Souza has his head screwed on straight. A basic rule of thumb is: no debt!
It's common sense, really. I mean, why would you pay tens of thousands of dollars to do something that you could do FOR FREE?
